Research from the Allied Dunbar National Fitness Survey has shown that physical activity levels in England are low. Numerous studies have shown that physical activity consistently decreases with age after adolescence or early adulthood. For example 15% of men and 25% of women aged 16 - 24, 32% of people aged 45 - 64 and 55% of those aged 65 or older were unable to report participation in any bout of moderate physical activity for 30 minutes per week in the past four weeks.
